With Republican Tom Tancredo threatening to bomb Muslim holy sites and Democrats involved in their own spirited debate about the use of nuclear weapons and talking with enemies, U.S. foreign policy has suddenly become hotter than baby kissing in the race for the White House. So hot the U.S. State Department issued a plea for all candidates to be a little more, well, presidential, in their remarks.

So to raise the level of debate just a notch, I want to point out a great new resource from the U.S. Center for Global Engagement. They held a conference a week ago where they invited each presidential candidate to send a "surrogate" to speak for them in a broad ranging discussion on U.S foreign policy. The panel discussions (one for the Democrats and one for the Republicans) are summarized here. And the full video of each event is here.

Update: The International Herald Tribune covered the foreign policy angles of Tuesday night's Democratic debate in Chicago.
