US-Chinese FDI; Two-Way, But Not Balanced

In the 1970s, Americans used to gripe about Japan "taking over America." Now people chatter about China doing the same thing. Well, it's not true.

Here's a look at U.S.-Chinese foreign direct investment (FDI). While China does invest in the U.S., it's not even in the top eight foreign investors. Plus, U.S. investment in China far outweighs Chinese investment here.

But it also turns out American xenophobia that makes people worry about economic takeovers also keeps China from investing more. Read on.
