Obama To Nominate Kerry For Secretary of State Job — Probably

By December 16, 2012

Follow me on:

That's Massachusetts Senator John Kerry at right, speaking with officers aboard the U.S.S. Wasp. Kerry, a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations committee, is expected to get President Obama's nomination this week to be the next U.S. Secretary of State. If so -- and let's say the nomination is 99% certain, according to most major news agencies -- he'll replace Hillary Clinton.

Kerry has done a lot of work with and for veterans, and he has made many trips abroad as a member of the foreign relations committee. As such, he will bring a great deal of respect with him to the job. His senate confirmation is expected to be easy.

For a brief biography of Kerry, read here.
