In the photo at right, a Vietnam War-era B-52 serves as a backdrop while a U.S. Air Force honor guard presents the colors at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam, during a ceremony December 14, 2012, commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Christmas Bombings that ended U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War.
The bombings, which you can read about here, were essentially Richard Nixon practicing foreign policy by force.
