Today, January 1, 2013, is the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. With that revolutionary document, President Abraham Lincoln freed slaves in rebelling American states and put the U.S. Civil War on an an anti-slavery footing.
I wrote more than a year ago about how the Proclamation was also an insightful foreign policy document. On this anniversary, I would like to resubmit that article for you to read here. The Emancipation Proclamation is another of the many things that show just how great a president was Lincoln.
