What Were The Geneva Accords?

Another in my series of Vietnam-related articles is a brief look at the Geneva Accords of 1954.

The Accords, to which the U.S. never officially agreed, were supposed to extricate France from its Indochina colonial endeavor and unite Vietnam under one government. It did the first but failed to do the latter. It also put the U.S. one step closer to combat in Southeast Asia.
